Introduction to Tests
Tests are new in The Dust Test app. Originally, we processed tests based on orders. This was challenging as
- Orders with multiple tests needed to be shipped in separate boxes
- It was difficult to track a test once it reached the lab
- Using the shipping tracking number as a unique way to track tests left room for typos and errors
Introducing Tests
With The Dust Test app, we're introducing Tests. A test is our method to track the item the customer purchased, it manages the chain of custody form, and stores the test results. When a test is created, a unique activation code is generated which is used to identify that test in the future. When creating a test, the app generates the activation code, a QR code (for customer activation), and a series of stickers for tracking.
Creating Tests
Think of tests like your virtual inventory: you have the physical inventory which is the number of available products in the warehouse and you have a virtual inventory, which is the number of tests that can be assigned to a customer. Your phyical and virtual inventory do not have to match 1-to-1. But a test cannot be assigned to a customer without availability in the app.
